The New York City Food Forum (NYCFF) is a collaboration of more than 90 food-active organizations that have come together to achieve their shared vision of a better food future for every New Yorker. In addition to working collectively, each NYCFF organization also works to advance the issues most aligned with its own focus and mission and may not subscribe to every position adopted by the NYCFF. Together, these organizations reach tens of thousands of people through their respective outreach, education, programing, and advocacy efforts.
The NYCFF has prepared A Food Primer for Our New Mayor, which encourages Mayor Bill de Blasio to lead us toward a better food future for every New Yorker by acting across five issue areas: hunger; health; school food; the food economy; and food governance.
The NYCFF was born out of a collective effort of 12 co-host and 76 partner organizations that came together to sponsor a Mayoral Candidate Forum on the Future of Food in New York City in July 2013. Six mayoral candidates, more than 750 people attended the event, and more than 1,300 viewers watched the forum via live stream, showing the importance of food policy in our city.
